Swing
A mobile order-picking interface for Weinmann Technologies' warehouse staff — replacing paper sheets with an app connected to the ERP.
Tech stack
Context
An internal tool from the Weinmann Technologies suite. Warehouse staff prepared orders using paper sheets and spreadsheets, which were prone to transcription errors and impossible to sync with the ERP in real time. This project is part of the Weinmann Client Portal, the company's suite of internal tools.
Problem
Paper order sheets and spreadsheets caused reading errors, lost information, and delays in reporting status back to the ERP. Warehouse staff had no tool suited to their on-the-floor use: standing, moving around, on a smartphone.
Solution
Built a mobile-first web app with HTML, TailwindCSS and Express. An ergonomic interface designed for touchscreens after observing warehouse staff on the floor. ERP integration via Python microservices to format and transmit real-time stock updates. Handles unstable connections (retry logic, lightweight local cache), an optimized-index MySQL schema, and a desktop view for quality control and shipment tracking.
Results
Fully adopted: paper sheets and spreadsheets have been permanently replaced. Reading and transcription errors are nearly eliminated. Available on mobile for warehouse staff and on desktop for the office team. Built to evolve: barcode scanning and PDF export are planned next.
